Description

These Honey Cinnamon Fig Puff Pastry Danishes are the kind of treat that looks like it came straight from a bakery but couldn't be easier to make at home. Buttery, flaky puff pastry is filled with a creamy cinnamon cream cheese filling and baked until perfectly golden. Once cooled, each Danish is topped with fresh figs and finished with a sweet honey drizzle for the perfect combination of creamy, flaky, and fruity in every bite. They're perfect for a cozy breakfast, weekend brunch, or whenever fresh figs are in season.

Ingredients
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • Egg wash, as needed
  • Fresh fig slices, as needed
  • Cream Cheese Filling:
  • 8 oz cream cheese, room temp
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • ½ tsp cinnamon, plus extra for dusting
  • Pinch of salt
  • Icing:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tbs milk
Instructions
    Directions:
  1. 1
    1. Combine all filling ingredients together until smooth. Place in a piping bag and set to the side.
  2. 2
    2. Cut puff pastry dough into 9 squares. Cut 4 slits ½ an inch from the edge of the dough, ensuring that two opposite corners are fully cut, while the other two are still connected.
  3. 3
    3. Brush the edges with egg wash, and gently cross the dough over itself. Place them onto a sheet tray lined with parchment paper and brush the whole pastry with egg wash.
  4. 4
    4. Pipe the filling inside of the pastry and bake at 375° for 10-12 minutes.
  5. 5
    5. In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, honey, and milk until evenly combined.
  6. 6
    6. Top cooled pastries with fig slices, drizzle with icing, and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  7. 7
Note: You can alternatively cut the dough by folding the square in half (like a triangle) and cutting ½ an inch into the edges
